Elliot Lake Nuclear and Mining Museum
Canadian Mining Hall of Fame

The Nuclear Mining Museum is the only one of its kind in Canada.  It traces the history of the area starting as early as First Nation settlement and logging.  Elliot Lake's development into a mining community and its eventual transition into a world renowned centre for mine decommissioning is well documented and illustrated.  The museum is also home to the Canadian Mining Hall of Fame - a dedication to individuals who have demonstrated outstanding lifetime achievement in the mining industry.  The town's pride is evident in a collection of newspaper articles from the 1950s and you can get up close and personal with animal traps, beaver pelts and stuffed and mounted animals.
